Matt Levey talks about Marine Science

4:00PM ~ 11.08.09

Matt moved to central California to attend graduate school at the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories. There he studied the ecology of marine fishes in the Gulf of California, Mexico. While there his interest in fish habitat led him to learning about seafloor mapping and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which led to a job with a local geophysical consulting company. For this job Matt spent months offshore and traveled to over 15 countries on six continents. Seizing the opportunity at the beginning of this year, Matt started his own marine science consulting company out of his home.

Matt is going to speak about marine science using his academic and professional experiences as examples of what marine science is and what marine scientists do.

Matt is from the Cottage at 320 W. Cliff Dr.
